The DC Multiverse Darthfather figure is a Collect and Connect (CAC, which sounds like someone from Boston saying one of the naughty words I’ve heard so much about but definitely never use) figure from the Death Metal Wave. I’ve already futzed around with the Batman, Robin King, and Superman figures from that wave. Wonder Woman is fantastic as well.
Much like the other figures from the wave, I did some detailing on him. Nothing major. Black wash, dry brush, etc etc etc. These figures really do shine with just a minimal amount of effort.
Hopefully, their QC steps up.
This is one of the best CACs from McFarlane yet. The pieces fit snugly, with nothing falling out, or being overly annoying. The metal spikes on the gauntlets are actually kind of sharp. Not “make ya bleed,” kinda way. But in a “Man, those are annoying while I’m trying to paint it” kinda way.
His articulation is crisp, as are the details all over the DC Multiverse Darkfather figure. Below are a couple of pictures of the untouched and weathered figure.
I still am not caught up with the series, so I don’t know if he plays a larger role later on. Right now it’s been a few panels of him torturing our Superman and then he peaces out. It was difficult to find reference pictures of him. I took a few liberties and I think he looks snazzy.
All in all, if you’re not going to get the wave (with the exception of Robin, is a great wave), this is still a cool figure to pick up, even if you’re just a Batman fan.
If you are just looking to score the standalone, you can start here. Prices are fairly low right now.
Someone is about to have a rough go of it.
