The Marvel Legends Vulture is part of a two pack exclusive from Wal-mart. His in-box companion is Spider-Man. Not the Spider-man from any comic you’ve read, or movie you’ve watched, but the “Ultimate” Spider-Man from that insufferable, 4th wall breaking kid cartoon on Disney XD. He may be a great figure, I don’t know. He’s still in the box.
Initial thoughts on the Marvel Legends Vulture
The Vulture though, is just a darn cool looking figure. I don’t care if he’s not the 127 year old Adrian Toomes from the 616 universe, he just looks amazing. Something about that pearlescent green that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. He has an unmasked head that ships with him, and his helmeted head (the former head would make a great Lex Luthor head also). Prior to opening the package, I just assumed the other head was a helmet, but its a completely different head. Last but not least, he has ankle rockers!
The wings are either on, or off, with no articulation. One set of hands, in a “muah ha ha ha” opened palm position.
However, none of that matters when it just looks so awesome.
The Vulture was always an odd bad guy for me. He’s like the old guy in your neighborhood that says horrible things to people but you know if you punch him in his face, you’ll break his hip. Instead you try to ignore him, but then he comes buzzing by your kid’s schoolyard in a set of gigantic green man-made wings. Now you have to deal with him. Great. The garbage disposal is throwing up under the sink, and that looney Toomes is in your backyard doing barrel rolls. Jerk.
Should you pick up the Marvel Legends Vulture?
If you want him and don’t have a Spider-man figure, the two pack is a no-brainer. The Walmart I picked him up at still had several and they had been there a while. If you’re like me and don’t need/want another Spidey (I have shelves of Spider-Men characters) then I would suggest holding off until the holidays when there’s a good chance this two-pack will be marked down. If you need him now and don’t have a Walmart nearby, you can get him on Amazon.
What do you think of him? Let me know in the comments below and as always, share, share, share this out to your friends! Also worth noting, no relation to the MCU Vulture.
