In Retrospect: Marvel Legends Hope Summers

Marvel Legends Hope Summers

I know very little of Hope Summers, even less about the Marvel Legends Hope Summers. What I know about her came primarily from reading Avengers vs. X-Men. Sometime between Scott Summers being a jerk to her and Scott Summers murdering his only real father figure, I familiarized myself with her slightly.

One of those tough female characters that didn’t exist before the Wonder Woman movie… oh wait a minute…

What’s Marvel Legends Hope Summers story?

I believe she is from the future and her adoptive father is Cable. I’m not sure if Scott is the actual father with Jean, or with her clone, or if Scott is involved at all. I think her superpower is teenage angst, but much like the Russia hacking, I guess we’ll never know.

Regardless, the figure looks nice.

As life has taught me, looks aren’t everything. Her joints are floppy, her limbs feel like rubber, and not the “ribbed for her pleasure” kind. She was next to impossible to pose, they gave her a gun she has little hope (no pun intended… or was it?) of holding and her most interesting piece is her poncho.

What’s my deal with the┬áMarvel Legends Hope Summers?

So why do a feature on her? Because despite all the negative, the one positive outweighs it all. When she was in stores, life was pretty dark for me. I was going through some heavy personal drama. My girlfriend, wonderful person that she is, saw her in the store and without knowing anything about her, bought her for me as a pick me up. It was an extremely sweet gesture and I think it worked more so than she anticipated. It was this figure, that purchase, that got me back into a hobby I take great joy in and I am not sure I’ll ever be able to express my thanks for that purchase.

As insignificant of a blip that the Hope Summers figure had on the world at large, it was a seismic shift in my personal life and one I will be forever grateful. Thank you!

If you are interested in picking Hope up, you can get her at the usual places:

Did you pick the Marvel Legends Hope Summers up? Did you build Terrax? I did, but not by collecting the wave, I just bought him for $30 off of a Facebook group and saved myself $100 or so bucks. As always, please feel free to share this article. Also, I miss you.

That was weird.
