Its been a while since I’ve shared my whole collection. Probably because once I give in to my narcissistic side, it’s hard to stop. If I turn the tap all the way up, I’ll be talking about my Amazon underwear purchases that I am strangely proud of. After I put together the new Star Wars Display, I thought it was time. That was a couple of months ago. Then I hit my busy period at work. From mid-August until probably December, it’s almost impossible for me to do anything with any consistency besides work. The couple hours after work that I do all of the production for this page has now been replaced with a couple more hours of work after work.
So that’s fun.
Still, I took these pictures a month ago and I want to at least start writing the article before I potentially get a new display for my birthday in September. Before I get interrupted, let’s get started.
What changed with the new displays?
A lot. I consider my Detolfs to be the center of attention, and prior to this change, they were dominated by foreign imports of MCU and Star Wars characters. Noticeably absent was the very reason that I ended up as a fan of the MCU to start with: their comic counterparts.
Fortunately, I’ve corrected that and now I get to talk about one of my favorite subjects… my stuff, and stuff I enjoy.
The main focal point of the revamp were comic characters. Let’s break it down.
First off, I felt like I had an abundance of Asgardians. Being a huge Thor fan, I decided the golden city needed to shine in its own display. Since these pics were taken, I picked up Unworthy Thor.
The next cube in the bottom is pretty unimpressive. It’s my “urban heroes” display. It’s pretty flat right now, but I have some modular fire escape steps ordered that I think can be turned into something pretty wicked for this.
The last of the three bottom displays is dedicated to the “Bad Guys.” I was shooting for the archvillain of every major character, but that becomes tricky. The only decent Red Skull I have is in my Hyrda display (duh!), and I have zero decent Mandarins. I refuse to count the garbage Face-Off Mandarin. Who is Thor’s big bad? Or Spidey? The Marvel Protagonists have a lot of rogues and nary a clown among them.
I’ve also added a few more SW figures since the last article on the display.
I knew I wanted a much larger Avengers representation. The main Avengers in these pics (Iron Man, Thor, and Cap) have all been replaced by their 80th Anniversary Counterparts.
Here was a pickle… I could easily have a full display of Marvel Mutants. I still may do that. Hell, I could have a shelf dedicated to just Wolverine. However, with the release of the totally tubular 90’s X-men from the cartoon and Jim Lee’s record-breaking comic run, I wanted that era to be the focus. I did the best I could, but several of these (like Jean and Storm) will be replaced with more appropriate costumes as I get their latest releases.
I still kept a couple of cubes dedicated to some imports, but now they share their space with their domestic cousins.
Marvel’s First Family got their own cube, and so did a fine group of Star Wars characters.
I am proud of my Endgame display, if not my manhood.
I love my DC characters, but it’s hard to find ones that aren’t trash. Some of the new Multiverse is looking good though.
Next up is the first Billy I set up. I wanted to highlight some of my favorites that didn’t make it into the Detolfs. It’s a fun display for me because it contains my take on a few different Avengers rosters, an MCU Iron Man Tribute (I am hoping to get this into a different display one day), and a whole lot of Spider-Man and his various rogues.
Now we move on to the displays that say “This dude ain’t got no money.” Here are some highlights.
Finally, my least favorite display. It’s my Legends MCU display. It has nothing to do with the figures but that fact that this is really just a storage set for the kids that they weren’t using. So I commandeered it and put it on its side. It will do for now.
Anyway, that’s the collection for now. If you’re looking for a new figure to put in YOUR collection, and you’re reading this before November 8th, 2019, click here and register to win a brand new Mezco James Gordon and Bat-Signal deluxe pack!
