S.H. Figuarts Luke Skywalker Crait Review

S.H. Figuarts Luke Skywalker Crait

This guy arrived at the same time my Force Awakens Han arrived. Much like that guy, he was relegated to a pile of stuff I had to deal with, as opposed to wanted to deal with. I love Luke, so I have to have this entry in my collection.

Still, the over all feeling was lackluster.

Maybe because it’s just an illusion?

What comes in the Figuarts Luke Skywalker Crait box?

There are no surprises here. We get the figure itself.

There are two sets of hands. Relaxed:

There are a set of dice from Han’s Falcon.

We get two unique face plates. A calm Luke:

Then we get a stoic, wind blown in battle face.

Rounding out the package, we get an ignited lightsaber, and a powered down saber to attach to his belt.

A couple close ups for you.

What doesn’t work with the Figuarts Luke Skywalker Crait figure?

Please… stop with the rubber robes. It seriously hinders his poseability.

The faceplates on mine did not want to nest snugly, which caused an unsightly gap. I appreciate faceplates done right, but I’m not sure this qualifies.

The second, more aggressive faceplate looks slightly off, but not enough that it would have stopped me from purchasing.

What works with the Figuarts Luke Skywalker Crait figure?

The neutral faceplate is probably the best headsculpt we will get of Mark Hamill in 1:12. For some reason, Manipple doesn’t mess with Star Wars characters.

The detail on the lightsaber is very nicely done and the articulation scheme is better than anything the Black Series will give you.

Should you purchase the Figuarts Luke Skywalker Crait figure?

I have it, because I have an unhealthy obsession with plastic representations of things I enjoy.

However, that’s the quandary here, isn’t it? I haven’t even watched the Rise of Skywalker at home yet, and I’ve had it since it was released.

Unimaginable to me in my youth.

I suppose at the end of teh day, I’m still bothered by how my childhood heroes were sent off.

Sure, this Luke Skywalker Crait figure encapsulates a moment when Luke was really a badass in the latest trilogy. Arguably, more of a bad ass then at any other point in the Skywalker saga.

But it was all an illusion. Just like the story I set up for Luke and Han post Jedi.

I know, I know, no one owes me the story I want or feel I deserve, and that’s ok. I’m looking forward to movies with Rey, Finn and Poe.

Hopefully they can be in the franchise for many years to come. And when it’s time for them to leave the franchise, I hope that time doesn’t find them broken hermits living alone on an island and hiding from everything you thought they stood for while you were living vicariously through their filmed experiences.

I have the figure because I love Luke and I’m a completionist, but I’m not happy about it. There isn’t anything of note outside of the nice Hamill headsculpt. Your opinion may be different, and if so, you can pick him up yourself. He isn’t a bad action figure. He just isn’t real.

As always, enjoy some pictures.
