Star Wars The Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper Review

The Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper is another entry in our ever growing Imperial Army. A few years ago, I kinda laughed at the guys who go all in on nameless troopers. Now I am obsessed with army building. I require at least two of every new troop design. That doesn’t always happen, but the two recent standalone movies (Rogue One and Solo) gave us a plethora of new troopers to occupy our army building fetishes.

The Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper is the latest in that vein.

What’s in the Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper box?

Not a lot, but everything we need. The Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper is based on the Imperial Patrol Trooper as seen in Solo. You maybe see them for two minutes. The Empire used these troops to slowly take over local law enforcement establishments on member planets. Eventually, all the police force would be replaced with Imperial loyalists. That sounds really familiar right now.

As such, he comes with everything he needs. A futuristic nightstick (I think that’s what it is) and a really cool blaster. In a universe as diverse as Star Wars, the weapons start to get repetitive after a while, so the new pistol is a welcomed one.

What doesn’t work with the Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper?

Actually, for a mass-produced figure I was able to pick up at Target for retail, he’s a pretty perfect action figure. I had no expectations whatsoever and as such, I exceeded my expected value on him. He’s just fun to pose around.

What works with the Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper?

This isn’t the first trooper I’ve reviewed, and I doubt it will be the last. What I can say is his weapons stay comfortably, but firm, in their respective holsters. While I would have liked to see more give in his elbow articulation, he still has an adequate range of motion for my needs.

Should you purchase The Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper?

That depends… do you like Star Wars? Do you collect action figures? Do you have an Imperial Star Wars action figure shelf? Then yes. He’s a solid figure. If you can get him below retail, even better. He has a cool looking factor of about 7.5, which earns him a place in my collection. You can get him here:
