S.H. Figuarts Endgame Captain America Review

Figuarts Endgame Captain America

HAPPY 4th of JULY! AMERICA! The Figuarts Endgame Captain America is the 4th offering from Bandai in the Cap department. The first two, Age of Ultron and Civil War, seemed to be thin in the leg department. Like Steve Rogers skipped leg day for 60 years. The Infinity War Cap had a great body mold but an unfortunate head sculpt and a spear he held for 10 seconds.

It may have taken them four iterations, but they finally got it right. Mostly.

What’s in the Figuarts Endgame Captain America box?

We get Captain America and America’s Ass. As if that wasn’t enough, we get two face sculpts. One is normal, the other is more of that side eye stuff Bandai is doing now.

He has three sets of hands. There are neutral hands.

There are fists.

He has flat hands with a clip to attach the shield in order to create the illusion he is tossing/catching the shield.

The final set of hands are fists with permanent shield grips attached.

We get what may be Bandai’s best cap shield ever, along with several ways to attach it to various items. he can attach it to his back (with folded leather straps), he can hold it, toss it or it can be staged “in-flight” with a Stage 4 stand from Bandai.

What doesn’t work with the Figuarts Endgame Captain America figure?

This is a short list, that basically consists of personal grievances with the figure as opposed to genuine flaws. If I forgot the lack of ankle rockers and bicep swivel, there isn’t a lot of negative to find. Especially when you negate the fact that they used early concept art for the figure. So… what could have made this figure better?

An unhelmeted Steve Rogers to replace the old Civil War sculpt. We should have got gripping hands so he could hold a Mjolnir that Bandai didn’t give us. Finally, this figure screams for two shields. The intact, undamaged shield, and the busted up, post-Thanos engagement shield. I will get the latter from the after market, I am sure.

Oh, one last gripe: the plug that fits in the hole in his back is tiny. Be careful.

What works with the Figuarts Endgame Captain America figure?

The uniform is pretty much dead bang on to what he wore in the second half of Endgame. The proportions look fantastic. He finally has the torso and legs he should have had on the first figure. The part of the head that isn’t covered looks very much like Chris Evans, and his articulation points all move very smoothly. I didn’t have knee pads and shoulder pads and elbow pads falling off constantly like the other Bandai Caps.

It’s a shame that this is probably one of their last Captain Americas, because I feel like they finally got him right.

Should you purchase the Figuarts Endgame Captain America?

Yes. Much like the Sovereign Knight batman, he’s too good of a figure to not pick up. He isn’t the last Endgame figure to arrive (I am waiting on Hawkeye, the MK 85, and Hulk) but he is one of the better ones released.

He’s a fitting tribute to a hero no longer with us in the MCU, for better or for worse. You can still pick him up here if you’re lucky:
