The Figuarts Ultron and I are old acquaintances; this figure has been mine since it first hit the market in 2016. While I was doing some maintenance on the site, I came across old pics I took. With that in mind, I figured I’d toss them up here so we can count the ways I loathe this figure. Be warned, I hate the pictures I took almost as much as I hate the figure.
What’s in the Figuarts Ultron box?
Not a lot. We get the lackluster figure and an extra set of hands. Open hands and fisted hands.
What doesn’t work with the Figuarts Ultron figure?
This figures articulation scheme is a joke. I paid as much for this hate letter to collectors everywhere that I do for good imports. He has no blast effects or energy pieces. In short, unless you routinely purchase ugly hookers, he is the most disappointing purchase you will ever make.
What works with the Figuarts Ultron figure?
He is sort of in scale with the rest of the Figuarts MCU figures, Like this one.
Should you get the Figuarts Ultron figure?
That depends. Do you enjoy things that suck? If so, then yes. However, if I had to do it all over again, I’d get the far superior Revoltech version. Just understand, you’re going to pay through the nose for it. That’s the main reason I’ve not corrected my mistake and probably never will. In the 616 universe, Ultron is a CONSTANT Global threat, that often arrives with emotional turmoil for his creator, Hank Pym. In the MCU, he’s barely a blip, used to set up Civil War, which in turn, sets us up for the last parts of this phase.
All things being equal, even though he’s a little too tall for Figuarts, the Marvel Legends Build a Figure is a much cheaper, better alternative. At least it can raise it’s arms up.
When it’s all said and done, I’d rather have a Figuarts Loki. If you want the Figuarts Ultron, it looks like eBay is your best bet. However, I’d save my money unless you specifically want that one for whatever reason.
