This isn’t a review in the traditional sense. Mainly because I wasn’t planning on reviewing the S.H. Figuarts Rogue One Stormtrooper. I know a lot of people have a trooper addiction, but to me I just bought them to round out displays. Then something odd happened.
The family sat down for a Star Wars marathon (1-7 with Rogue One and a few Clone Wars episodes thrown in for good measure) and something changed inside of me. No, I already knew how much I loved Star Wars. I finally realized how much I enjoyed the Clones, in particular in Episode III. Sadly, I do not have any Bandai Clones. I want two of the phase IIs but I haven’t checked the aftermarket price on them recently.
Cloneless, but not lacking in troopers. I have First Order Troopers and I have two Rogue One Stormtroopers. I went downstairs and grabbed one to play around with and I accidentally fell in love. This figure is absolute hand candy. I picked him up and I couldn’t put him down. The execution is flawless. The S.H. Figuarts Rogue One Stormtrooper has several hands to swap out as well as three weapons (A blaster, a heavy rifle and whatever that thing is with the bipod. Laser sniper? I don’t know. I’m not a stormtrooper). I started taking pictures of him and I could not stop.
What did I think of the S.H. Figuarts Rogue One Stormtrooper?
I did not own the original Figuarts Stormtroopers, but from what I hear they were a “miss,” not unlike their initial Darth Vader. I’m not a guy that can argue the dimensions of the Stormtrooper helmet so for me, the S.H. Figuarts Rogue One Stormtrooper is the perfect 1:12 Stormtrooper. I have some Black Series troopers (I DO have BS clones) and the quality, articulation, accessories and sculpts do not even come close.
Bottom line, if you like Star Wars and you like Stormtroopers, get the S.H. Figuarts Rogue One Stormtrooper. Get as many as you can afford. Sell your children. Sell your organs. Sell grandma. She told me she spent your inheritance on scratch offs and hard candy. She told me. To my face. With her word making mouth. Point being, they are that nice. You can still pick the S.H. Figuarts Rogue One Stormtrooper up at the following locations:
Did you pick this guy up? What did you think? Where do you stand on your opinion of Troopers? I don’t think they’re nice guys. The clones were awesome until someone hardcoded them to kill Jedi. Stormtroopers just seem like horrible people. You want a soundbite? That’s mine: I don’t trust Imperial Stormtroopers.
